We will offer a six-week fundamental and intermediate series this fall with professional tango instructors Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda.

Wednesday nights on October 26 – Dec 7 (except Thanksgiving week)

Preregistration is now open and is highly encouraged, since we are usually at capacity before the series starts. Click here to register:


Please note that preregistration does not guarantee your place in the series. Your place is guaranteed once we receive payment. After you register, we will send you a link to pay online. If you prefer, you can also pay by cash  or check at our pre-series events on October 12 and 19.

Fundamental series: 7:45 PM – 8:45 PM
Intermediate series: 9:15 PM – 10:15 PM
Practica: 10:15 PM – 12 AM


Koret Pavilion


Stanford student: $20 per series/$40 both series
Stanford affiliate*: $35 per series/$60 both series
Non-Stanford affiliate: $60 per series/$110 both series
*Stanford affiliates include Stanford staff and postdoctoral fellows


No dance partner needed for either class. For the fundamental series, no dance experience is needed. For the intermediate class, a minimum six months or two consecutive series worth of tango experience is required.

Welcome to Stanford Fall 2016

Welcome to Stanford! We hope you’ll enjoy our programming this year.

We will offer free student-led tango classes this quarter.
The first one is Oct 12 at 7:45-8:45p in the Black Community Services Center. No experience or partner necessary.

We’ll be doing a progressive six week series with professional teachers Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda beginning Oct 26. Preregistration is now open and highly encouraged. See the link below for more details.

On Oct 22, we will have a single evening special event with visiting tango instructors Gabriel Missé and Carla Espinoz. Preregistration is now open and highly encouraged.

Finally, we’ll have an on-campus outing to Stanford New Ensemble’s Tango and Beyond concert on Nov. 4 at 7:30p.

Interested in the performance team? We’re having our first Spring quarter practice before the class (7p) in Koret. Tango experience beneficial, but not required; we’ve had people join after their second class and others after their second year. No requirement to perform if you come to practices; we practice movements and practice dancing to songs. The performance team is only open to Stanford students.

Christy Coté has been teaching, performing and choreographing Argentine Tango since 1996. Her teaching method has been published in the Argentine Tango manuals by Dance Vision. She is one of the featured teachers and performers for CITA, the annual International Tango Congress in Buenos Aires. Christy is one of the founding members and choreographers of the all female tango company, Tango Con*Fusion created in 2004. Christy is based in San Francisco where she teaches weekly classes at La Pista and Boot Camps at various locations around the Bay Area. We hope you will join us for a 6 week series with Homer and Cristina in Winter 2015.  6 week series on Wednesdays January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 17, 24.

Pre-registration is closed. Both series are full. Drop-ins are unavailable, and there is no room in either series.
